Lost Last Letter -3

continued.....
It was a bright sunny day & the campus was exhibiting a paradigm of nature’s elegant beauty in the form of the sod and shrubs planted all over the campus. The ad hoc construction of the dept buildings was the surprising factor. Ignoring the odds stacked against the construction, the library was undoubtedly the best of all. It had a semi-oval architecture, 15 rows inside, each placed in the form of elevated staircase.
It was Easter Sunday & even the college being closed the library was open. The librarian just unlocked it and became scarce into his little chamber inside. All students of last sem had made their way out of the college in form of trip to enjoy their last days of engineering life. It so happened that for 1st time ever Raj divulged his dissent in being a part of the trip. This made all his friends to use their stagnant piece of mind to think!! Manoj, his best friend tried to persuade him ,but in vain. To add to this, from whole batch only Raj & Devika   refrained themselves from going. Devika escaped from others worries for not coming because she was never involved in such things, so one would cut it out by calling it a déjà vu.
There was a week still left for the last paper, which was an eleventh hour induction at the start of last sem by the university. It was called ‘CORPORATE ETHICS’. This new subject made the fresher’s aware of the corporate ethics, manners and the various psychologies of the employer. Devika grasped the best out of it by default while the rest just hated it.
On Sunday only Raj & Devika were in library. Raj was in 1st row while she was in her fixed last row, last seating. They mutually hated this moment as they never got the tag of being tete-a-tete. Raj could make it out easily that she was revising this subject for 2nd time looking at her face, while he was still struggling with the introduction. His mind was denying to grasp anything from the book. He kept on cursing himself for spending all his pocket money which denied him to make it to the trip. Manoj offered to bear his expenses but it was against Raj’s ethics of never borrowing money from friends.
It was 5pm & Raj managed to read only the introduction. It was getting difficult for him to learn the topic: CORPORATE TREE. On the contrary watching Devika enjoy her study time irked him very much. He made a plan considerately to ruin her mood, to go and ask her to explain this topic. Indeed it was his toughest decision of his life so far…but he was helpless. Raj turned towards her and started striding. At the back of his mind he could hear trumpet sound, like the ones who played it for the king’s heading to war!! Devika hardly noticed his advances. Standing  at a distance of 5ft he asked,” devi, can you explain me the logic of CORPORATE TREE?”
The moment she heard this, the reaction was as if someone asked her,” will you marry me!!!”. She got completely perturbed & fuming with anger she walked away to occupy 1st bench. Raj stood there enjoying his cunning smile. He knew what damage he had done by that. This was the only thing happened to him in this month which made him feel happy eternally.
Raj grabbed the ecstasy & now he thought of returning back to hostel. He was getting down, going towards the exit. Suddenly he saw 2 papers extended by a hand stopping his walk. It was Devika with notes & Raj accepted them. He was taken aback completely on discovering her explicit & elaborated explanation on CORPORATE TREE with some funny figures making it more simplified to understand. Before he could try to gather voice from his vocal chords to than her, she tilted her soda glasses to right and getting up from her seat she said,” its Devika n nt Devi…beware” & left.
Raj was perplexed ,stunned and shocked  about what he had just witnessed. It was the breaking news of the year, not wrong if we call it of century. Devika helped Raj!!!
He wanted to irritate her, but she turned the table & now Raj was at the receiving end….
To be continued….

Radha came running inside the room. Managing the nauwari sari was still a difficult job for her. She was wearing it since 8 years as it was the traditional Brahmin apparel for women in those days. She went to the wooden cupboard beside the bed and took out the white pagadi and gave it Ramrao. Ramrao took it with a smile on his face and looking into her eyes he said,” Thank you my dear wife” for which she smiled him back and put her head down evincing her shyness. Having said that he left for work. Radha was 18 years old and Ramrao, who was 35, then, was her husband. In those days girls were married at the age of 8 or...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton . The topic for this month is 'That Last Night'. A small crowd of reporters was waiting anxiously for the WRITER to arrive, and back of my mind I was very much excited to keep them waiting. I was accompanied by my agent and we walked inside the conference hall and the sound of warm applause relieved me; though, it didn’t satisfy me. We sat on the chair, which was a de facto way to start the so called interview. “Good evening to all my friends. I am now fixed to chair and you can start the interview. I know many of you have myriad questions running in your minds and soon they are going to be blasted on me. So let the 1 st question of the evening come in” (A lady of a leading newspaper gets up as soon as if she was waiting to pounce the piec...

Story of an Untold Story

The theme for the month is 'An Untold Story' "You miss her ??" asked the son to his father who was on the verge of entering into senility. “I have never. Nor do I intend to.” was the sturdy reply. Son sensed the succinct rudeness in his father’s reply. Trying to be indifferent he proceeded further. “Well… true. You only miss someone when that someone is absent; mother is present in your heart and you can’t deny it.” “See, you got me” said his father with a smile on his wrinkled face. “Dad, I wish she was with us today. I could have seen tears in her eyes when I was about to go abroad for my job. I could have asked her to prepare all delicious desi dishes to eat.” There were tears in his eyes while saying this...
