Lost Last Letter-6

Continued..
The next day went smoothly. Raj went back to hostel & after getting fresh he returned take care of Aruna. Then it was Devika’s turn to go back & do the same. There was something different about this day & that was the sweet sounding silence between the two titans. Devika was feeling very rejuvenated & the reason was quite evident from the last night’s outburst. Be it because of all the piled up hardships she had faced from her childhood, sharing it in this manner fetched her sigh of relief. All negative things about him were now on their way out from her mind & heart. Some part of her mind still wished to continue the ongoing saga of hatred between them, but heart for the first time, decided to redeem from the mind.
So it was in the afternoon they were sitting opposite with Aruna’s bed in middle. The doc performed his preliminary check-ups & assured that she may be conscious by night. He also added that her health was showing progress. So now they had time & unfortunately the situation wherein they had to compensate each other’s boredom with something & that something was to indulge in a chat. There was a long silence which spoke many things between them with a fraction of second look of theirs. At last Raj thought since his the villain of last night’s scene, he spoke,” sorry 4 yesterday… devi…..opps!!! I forgot its Devika n not devi”. The moment she heard this, she looked sternly at him, got up from her seat & walked to him, stood there not losing out a single moment of her despot look. Raj was feeling the chilling fever inside him. He thought he made another mistake. THAPPPPP!!! Was the sound that echoed in the ICU ward...for a moment Raj didn’t know where he was sitting & what was going around him!!! Devika slapped Raj and he sat there stunned looking into her cruel eyes.
Suddenly Devika’s feckless anger turned into unstoppable laughter followed by hefty giggles. Now Raj firmly believed it was a perfect paradigm of striding towards mental imbalance, just was confused if it was him or her!!
Hardly controlling her laugh she said,” I told u nt to call me Devi!! N u stil did…ur such a big fool “. Raj finally grabbed a sigh of relief from that.
Then they sat together & started chatting & it went on & on &on...they spoke on many topics & were surprised to discover that they got a new topic each time. Both were having a splendid time which was soon be going to unoblivious.
At night around 10pm Aruna was conscious & she felt good to see both, especially her dear brother. Raj took a sudden decision of discharging her & escorted to his aunt’s place which was in the nearby town about 10km from here. He also insisted Devika to stay back in hospital till he gets back to which she agreed. Raj came back in an hour & they both went to college, enjoying each & every second of the ride, Raj wished it rained.  It was like something blossoming elegantly: no one knew it may be love!!
*
Since then Raj & Devika spent time together in the library. She taught him all the topics in CORPRATE ETHICS with such efficiency that studying with her seemed to be very enjoying & happening.
*
The day before exam all the trip folks came back and on seeing Raj & Device sitting together sharing jokes, laughing together it was PAIRON TALE JAMEEN KHISAK JAANA. More than being worried about the subject, they were worried about Raj. Wts wrong with him!! Is he freaked out to be wid that geeky gal!!, r they dating!! , mhannn!! Did they kiss??!!! Were some of speculations buzzing in the campus.
*
Their last exam got over & a surprise party named ‘ last meet was arranged by the juniors. Everybody was excited for this party as it was going to be the last hangout before they pull their socks to struggle in life. Raj arrived in the party with all his friends. Many asked him what was cooking between him & Device, but he denied them always.
His eyes were looking for someone, that someone who promised him , “ u wil c me as u hv never seen me bfr”. It was being displayed continuously in his mind. He couldn’t find her still. One hour, no signs of her presence. Two hours, still the same. All were having the best time of their lives whereas Raj’s face was stuffed with ridiculous worries which found a profound connection about his dream of someone stabbing Device. He hurriedly left for girl’s hostel & to his surprise he saw Devika near the spot inches close to the one he dreamt.
Raj ‘s eyes stopped responding to his brain the moment they saw firm glimpse of Devika. It wasn’t the cliché look of hers.  Her hair was left open, which was playing like a child to the gentle blowing air. It was as if her eyes were deprived from showing its alluring beauty, incredible glow, innocent new born baby’s cuddle by the soda glasses, which was not visible anymore. She wore a black sari with embroidery work done around its border which was very simple. Well Raj didn’t get time to look at that in depth because something else robbed him completely; her pinkish lips. He just wanted to go there and grab her in his arms & kiss her passionately….his heart  as yelling that you are in love with her. Devika too kept staring him..they walked towards each other…the walk was monitored by some unknown force..it was like the two opposite magnetic poles getting attracted to each other. 6ft..5..4..3..2….and there they were… very close to each other with gentle blowing air between them carrying their breathe ,so that it could bring them even closer…their mind stopped working…everything halted for a moment…Raj was now paced up his approach & in within he experienced his next heart beat, his lips brushed smoothly against Devika’s trembling, exhilarating lips…something which Devika never ever imagined was about to happen, the soft feminine side of hers was being called unconditionally…the brushing became more & more smooth…this time Devika made her advance &…………………
To be continued…

Radha came running inside the room. Managing the nauwari sari was still a difficult job for her. She was wearing it since 8 years as it was the traditional Brahmin apparel for women in those days. She went to the wooden cupboard beside the bed and took out the white pagadi and gave it Ramrao. Ramrao took it with a smile on his face and looking into her eyes he said,” Thank you my dear wife” for which she smiled him back and put her head down evincing her shyness. Having said that he left for work. Radha was 18 years old and Ramrao, who was 35, then, was her husband. In those days girls were married at the age of 8 or...

A small crowd of reporters was waiting anxiously for the WRITER to arrive, and back of my mind I was very much excited to keep them waiting. I was accompanied by my agent and we walked inside the conference hall and the sound of warm applause relieved me; though, it didn’t satisfy me. We sat on the chair, which was a de facto way to start the so called interview. “Good evening to all my friends. I am now fixed to chair and you can start the interview. I know many of you have myriad questions running in your minds and soon they are going to be blasted on me. So let the 1 st question of the evening come in” (A lady of a leading newspaper gets up as soon as if she was waiting to pounce the piec...

The theme for the month is 'An Untold Story' "You miss her ??" asked the son to his father who was on the verge of entering into senility. “I have never. Nor do I intend to.” was the sturdy reply. Son sensed the succinct rudeness in his father’s reply. Trying to be indifferent he proceeded further. “Well… true. You only miss someone when that someone is absent; mother is present in your heart and you can’t deny it.” “See, you got me” said his father with a smile on his wrinkled face. “Dad, I wish she was with us today. I could have seen tears in her eyes when I was about to go abroad for my job. I could have asked her to prepare all delicious desi dishes to eat.” There were tears in his eyes while saying this...
